We finished our application!

We just finished our application to become long-term WorldVenture missionaries. This may not sound like a milestone, but I assure you that it is. Three different psychology tests, a marriage health survey, an online acquaintance form, an online extensive application, online addendum to the application, a six page personal profile paper we had to write, a six page definition of our theology on everything from salvation to tribulation, 8 references from friends, co-workers, and church members (thanks for everyone that did this for us), and sign-off for compliance with the doctrinal statement, HIV testing, medical records release, transcripts from our schools, pastoral reference, and a church leaders approval for of our personal beliefs.
Yikes.
These guys don’t mess around. I’ve worked for them for nearly 5 years and I had no idea what we put people through.
So the next step is to wait for approval of our application from an approval committee. If we are approved, then we can come to the June appointment class. This class begins with us going before a board to be approved officially, and then we will be presented to the mission as new appointees.
Is that crazy? It’s like we’re joining the elks club or something. I don’t think there are any secret handshakes necessary, but I’m not 100% sure.
