About Us
The term "Teamwynn" started with my sister-in-law Trisha Wynn, who signed the bottom of some note a long time ago, "Go team wynn." Somehow that stuck. It symbolized what Kara and I were trying to achieve in our young marriage ... a team.
We're a family of four, living in Denver, CO. (Chris, Kara, Mason, and Sawyer)
At our core is our desire for God.
Independently, Kara and I both came to faith in Jesus Christ in our teens, and have pursued a deeper walk and service to God. Not that it has always been pretty, or that we're always willing, but that the Spirit of God has taken up residence inside our souls, and no matter our fatigued or guilty over our brokenness we are, we long to be God's. We want to be His children and to surrender everything we are and have to Him.
For us, this desire to serve God has naturally drawn us to missions:
Kara took four separate trips to Guatemala in college; Chris took a trip on Logos II to Venesuala, Guyana, Barbados, Grenada; Kara traveled to Spain to work with a seminary; Chris traveled to western Europe; we traveled together to Jordan and Israel as teachers aids and archeology assistants; we then traveled to New Zealand as bible professors; Kara spent a month working in a clinic in Rwanda; Chris traveled to Mozambique and did pastoral training; Kara then traveled to Mozambique to do ground work on establishing a clinic; Chris and Kara both traveled to Mozambique and Kenya to work in orphanages; then Chris through his work at WorldVenture has traveled to Japan, Thailand, Loas, Uganda, England, China, New York, Oregon, Iowa, and Texas.
This travel hasn't simply been for the experience. Actually, most of it has been us searching ... searching for a place to serve.
Ever since we honeymooned in Guatemala, we've been asking ourselves, "Is this where we should work? Where does God want us to go?" It has always been clear that we were called to work internationally, but it has been years of searching for the right fit.
In recent years, our heart has firmly planted into the needs and people of Africa. Kara with her gifting in nursing and compassion; Chris with web, video, and visual storytelling.
Most difficult has been fitting Chris's gifts with Africa. As you can imagine, Africa lacks stable infrustructure needed for video and web production over the most of its vast lands. So how do you do high end video and web production in and for Africa? Where can compassion medical work be done in the same area?
Searching for this answer has lead us to Cape Town, South Africa to investigate Media Village and Beautiful Gate.
